20th December 2009 -Loving Members of 3C - With Thanks

The 3C has been set up through kind gifts of love and donations from wonderful people who believe in the spirit of supporting young people and the creation of a more loving and humane world. We would like to thank all of these people and this list is by no means complete..because there are many well wishers we have and we will continue to update this. The gifts of goodness are not only in terms of things but also good wishes..so please add your goodwill comments on the blog

• Saanjh Naani and Naana - for their love always and allowing us to use their Basement to be our secret hideout and hangout place. In particular Naani for letting us rummage in her 'kabad' to recycle fun stuff like paintings, mirror frame, small shelves and many such goodies. We wish Naana get well soon since he is recovering from a fall.. so they can join us
• Saanjh's' Daadi and Daada -for their love always and donating a beautiful treasure box from their attic. Please join us when you come from Jaipur
• All Childrens' Grandparents - who love their grand children and we hope you will all join us at the club when we have a special party for you
• Arjun Uncle- for just being there always since the 3C was just a twinkle in the eye..
• Lata and Tanu Aunty and Yunus Mamu -for setting us off with the first meeting
• Meenu Aunty -for ensuring we have a rocking time on your lovely rocking chair which you gave to the club along with a table with pravah colours.
• Kamini Aunty - for enabling us to have a space to stow away our goodies and nick nacks by gifting us two wooden drawer cabinets.. which we think will become our club lockers..
• Vinita aunty - for gifting us the most beautiful sofa set with blue cushions and three pretty tables on which we will do our craft work. And also pretty lamps that will light up our lives
• Om Prakash Unlce -and his team for setting up the space with his woodwork skills
• Manju aunty , Bahadur and Ganesh Unlce and Ravi and Meena -for clearing the cobwebs with us and getting the basement together. Chandu Aunty and Jyotsna Aunty who are not in Charmwood anymore but have been looking after the place before it became a club house and who have always loved all the children of charmwood.. we wish you were here..
• All the parents and relatives as well as didis- of the children who have been so encouraging and who we hope will bring their love and skills to the place.
• All the children - for just being who they are!

We wish to share also the many offers we have got from children and adults alike who we hope will join us to make this a fun place...thanks to all

• Tanu Aunty -who is great at crafts will help us become a bit more ' crafty' in a good way
• Yunus Mamu - who has promised to open up his computer and other machines to let us see how things work.. since he is machine junkies and engineering wizard himself
• Srinivas Uncle -who teaches at IIT will help us make some fun toys and teach us the principles behind them..
• Surbhi Aunty -who has promised us fun things..
• Priya and Swati Aunty - who will also join us soon
• Sumona aunty -who will do fun and games on public speaking and debates
• All of you - who are reading and commenting on our posts and sharing your thoughts, ideas and feelings..
• Ashraf aunty's many fun friends who may join us to add some cheer and life and love- just good guys who can do all sorts of things from book reading to adventure to music to organic farming to theater to jewellery making and kabad se jugaad and paper toys and comics and cooking.....and people from all over the world who have gifted her toy museum with real interesting things .. we will tell you more about them and their talents in future posts.. when we meet them.. for now we are just going to talk to all of you and more people and find out what we can all do together and line up a calendar of fun stuff for the year.

13th December 2009..Motely Potley- Getting started

The Charmwood Childrens Club was formally kicked off on 13th December. The people who were part of this august event were Saanjh,Seerat, Shaila, Tripti, Arjun, Saksham and Vrinda they were happily joined by Lata, Tanu, Ashraf and Yunus (Mamu). The Motely Potley ahd great fun together. The first thing we did was to welcome everyone to the club. Then we all painted our ideas on what we would do at this club. Like a creative brainstorming exercise. We will put up our works of art and intelligence up on this blog soon. Then we made teams of two and three and presented our brainstormed ideas through song and dance and some theater. In this meeting it was decided that this club would do the following activities..

• Book Reading


• Singing


• Dancing


• Camping and adventure


• Watching films


• Playing card and Board games


• Organising member birthdays


• Making things with our hands


• Stitching


• Having Fun


• Hanging Out

Further ideas suggested by some of the older members present .. who are really children at heart.. were

• Opening up machines and toys and learning how things work


• learning new things


• Initiating and participating in good causes which we learn about through newspapers and films..
• Learning to reuse recycle and reduce
  
• Making a better neighbourhood and a better world and a better us ( it's also called active citizenship!)


• Creating products like cards and crafts and selling them to raise resources for good causes.

We will also do neighbourhood projects that go beyond our own fun and games and learning. Our first project will be to set up a childrens' library. We will collect books from everyone in the neighbourhood and beyond and make some book shelves from cardboard to set this up . You can join this effort.

Well we are looking for lots of fun ideas..so can you please comment on this blog and give us fun suggestions. Things we can do and learn from and have lots of fun. Maybe through this blog other folks will also get excited about starting up clubs in their neighbourhood.. a childrens club movement..outside of school..
